By Graham O’Donnell of the Spirit of Ireland Project Team
Venue Sligo Park Hotel
Date Monday, 19th October 2009
Ireland has some of the very best natural energy resources in Europe. The Spirit of Ireland Project aims to make this wind power available, useable and reliable on a large scale by storing our abundant wind energy in large hydro storage reservoirs.
Like Ardnacrusha and rural electrification, this project has the potential to transform Ireland within five years, ending our dependence on imported oil, gas and coal for power generation, make us energy competitive, stimulate the economy, create tens of thousand of jobs, and attract capital investment.
Graham O’Donnell, an Electrical and Electronics Engineer with over 20 years experience of international power networks, will give what promises to be a highly interesting and stimulating presentation on this Nationally important project. All are welcome!
The Spirit of Ireland Project is a National project for energy independence (see http://www.spiritofireland.org for info) and we are facilitating the lecture in the interest of generating debate/discussion on this very topical issue. The event is free and open to the public. It is also being webcast live for anyone who cannot attend. www.sligoit.ie/online
