Sligo G.I.Y. (Grow it yourself)
As you can image given the current economic climate, growing your own food is becoming more
and more popular, the GIY groups aim to take the ''self'' out of ''self-sufficiency'' by getting amateur growers together so that they can learn those skills from each other and connect with like-minded individuals.
Sligo GIY (Grow it yourself) is part of a national not-for-profit organisation which is trying to inspire people to grow their own food and give them the skills they need to do so successfully. Activities include monthly meetings, talks and demos, garden visits, seed and plant swaps, produce bartering, mentor panels and grower’s meitheals. GIY meetings are free and open to people interested in food growing at all levels.
