Riverstown Vintage Festival 2009

This year will be the sixteenth annual Riverstown Vintage Festival and will once again take place in the grounds of Sligo Folk Park on Saturday 30th May 2009.
The event supported by Failte Ireland North West, will feature displays and demonstrations of vintage farm machinery, cars, crafts and customs from bygone years plus much more.

Highlights will include an array of vintage farm tractors, working farm machinery and displays of soda bread making, needle work and crochet.
A special display celebrating fifty years of Barbie will also be on show and there will also be the opportunity for young and old alike to get into period costume and have their “yesteryear photograph” taken.

Entertainment will be provided by Mick Flavin the man they call the king of country who will be appearing live on stage with his band at 3pm.
The official opening this year will be performed by the vintage man himself, Mr David Carroll who is no stranger to the Vintage Festival having done many threshing displays down through the years.

The grounds and facilities of Sligo Folk Park will provide the perfect backdrop with on site restaurant, the charm of the Village Street, the old world appeal of Millview House and a variety of farm animals and fowl on display. All visitors will be able to avail of free car parking.

The annual Childrens Day will take place on Sunday 31st May 2009 and will include an array of childrens activities including bouncy castles, traditional games and sports and the ever popular Bosco will also be appearing.
Over the years the annual Vintage Festival has grown to be the biggest and best family festival in the Northwest and the 2009 Festival will no doubt continue this trend. This years event will once more have something for everyone and provides a great opportunity to meet up with old friends and make some new ones in a family friendly atmosphere.
