Sligo Borough Council have introduced Pay and Display Parking Meters to Sligo.. Over 70 meters have been installed throughout the city at designated locations, and the new meters are designed to accept payment by credit cards and euro coins and parking can also be paid by mobile phone.
The Parking Meters will not give change so it will be necessary to have the correct fee to hand.
The Disc Parking System and the Pay and Display Parking Meter System will operate side by side until such time as stocks of Parking Discs have been used up by retailers and motorists.
Receipt
Whatever your preferred choice of payment, the Pay and Display meter provides the motorists with a receipt to display on the windshield of the vehicle which can also be used as proof of payment.
Charges and Business Hours
Parking Charges apply
Between the hours of 8.30am and 18.30 pm – Monday to Saturday inclusive
Between 12 noon and 6.00pm on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Hourly Parking
The charge for On-Street Parking and Hourly Car Parks is f €1.20 per hour.

Daily Parking
The Charge for Daily Car Parks is €2.50 per day.

Paying by mobile phone
In order to facilitate the motorist who may not have the correct fee to hand, payment can be made by mobile phone. Instructions are given on the information plate on each parking meter, and the cost of this transaction is the same as a standard text message.
