This April the current young batch of budding stars from IT Sligo’s fourth year performing arts course will take to the stage in Dublin. The venue for this performing arts showcase will be in one of Dublin’s theatres which is yet to be decided.
The aim of this showcase is for the students to display their wonderful acting abilities in the hope of being one of the lucky few who get snapped up and begin a great new career from it. The students will perform a serious of scenes and monologues under the bright lights of the stage where they will be closely watched by casting agents and directors from across Ireland who will be the VIP guests of this spectacular evening.
By taking part in this showcase the student is getting hands on valuable experience which will be of great benefit to them for future auditions as well as hopefully finding the next big thing perhaps the next Colin Farrell or Saoirse Ronan could be wondering the halls of It Sligo now just waiting to be discovered.
For the last four years at IT Sligo students in the performing arts course have covered a wide range of interesting topics which include :acting., Directing, theatre design and arts management. Under close watch by lecturer Dr Agnes Palai the 9 students have blossomed and have entertained the college over the years with their outstanding performances in many a show in the black box theatre.
The performing arts showcase itself is being organised by a group of third year Marketing PR & Event Management students as part of their course. Throughout the3 years these students get many a chance to work on various college events as well as organise their own events.
