The Model, February 25th, 8pm
What better way to relax and unwind after the triumphs and tribulations of the General Election than attending the much anticipated return of Halves with support from the wonderful Jennifer Evans on Friday, February 25th at 8pm at The Model, Sligo. Halves can be said to be one of Ireland’s most intriguing acts, blending a vast array of instruments, acoustic & electronic. One thing is for certain, you can be sure to be subjected to an evocative & cinematic experience.
Halves certainly boast an impressive résumé since their debut gig in 2007, playing alongside acts as diverse as British Sea Power, Lisa Hannigan, Elbow & Bell X1, to name but a few. They’ve also played the major festivals such as Electric Picnic, Oxygen & Hard Working Class Heroes, sharing bills with Sigúr Ros, Rage Against the Machine & Bjork.
Their album ‘It Goes, It Goes (Forever & Ever) released in October 2010, has just recently been nominated for a Choice Music Prize 2011 and they subsequently released the debut single ‘I Raise Bears’ at the beginning of this year. Support on the night is provided by very special guest, Jennifer Evans. Her ‘Salient Points’ EP was released to much praise, and Evan’s soulful, ethereal noir-folk, striking voice and perfectly pitched songs are sure to evoke many emotions. If her recent performance on RTE’s arts review show, ‘The View’ is anything to go by, then you are definitely in for a treat. Tickets for this intimate gig are sure to sell out quick, so make sure to secure yours by visiting the Model reception or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org Tickets are €15/€12
