Four Tourism students from the Institute Of Technology, Sligo will assist with the delivery of the multi-cultural festival that takes place on the 5th of April 2009 at the Sligo Folk Park in Riverstown.

Hilda Sheridan, Donna Gibbons, Ann-Marie Fleming and Mairead Sheridan will present a case study of the event to their lecturer, Joanna Sweeney, as part of their event management modular of the Business in Tourism Honours Degree. The subject requires the students to work alongside the Manager of Sligo Folk.

Next up is Wayne O Connor from Sligo at 1 o clock. At 1.30 Strandhills barber shop singing group Four Bars Later. Sligos Bug House Band play a jazz session at 2 o clock. The Innisfree Ceili Band take to the stage at 3 followed by Odd Sox Revival at 4 with some classic rock covers and more. Whist take to the stage at 5.

Proceedings move to the County Council offices at riverside for a fireworks display and music by Deja Groove at 8pm.

Sligo’s Monthly Comedy Night Craic’s out of the Box and into McGarrigles

Sligo’s well-established monthly comedy night; Craic in the Box, is on the move once again. Started up by The Model Arts and Niland Gallery in 2004 and hosted by John Colleary ever since, Craic in the Box has played host to some of the leading lights of Irish and international comedy in the past; including Des Bishop, Jason Byrne, Neil Delamere, Adam Hills, Maeve Higgins, PJ Gallagher, Danny Bhoy, Jeff Greene and Dom Irera to name but a few.
